CEO of the Medical Center
Message from Prof. Masad Barhoum M.D
The Galilee Medical Center, affiliated with the Azrieli Faculty of Medicine Bar Ilan University, has undergone a dramatic academic and medical transformation, providing new and innovative services to the residents of Israel’s northern periphery.
In the last decade, about twenty new departments, units and institutes have opened at Galilee Medical Center such as: the only Department of Neurosurgery in the Galilee, a Cerebral Angiogram Unit, an Oral and Maxillofacial Department, a fortified Emergency Department, a fortified Cardiology Department, an In vitro Fertilization (IVF) Unit, a Rehabilitation Division; a Hand Surgery Unit, the Women’s Health Division – Phase A, a Medical Simulation Center, a Medical Research Institute, a Neuroradiology Unit, a Microsurgery Unit, and more.
This is not simply about opening new departments and units and providing services, but rather, about instituting significant change that combines excellence, innovation, professionalism and a relentless pursuit of advanced state-of-the-art medical care.
The Oral and Maxillofacial unit opened about five years ago, and it quickly developed into an advanced center integrating the full range of dental specialties. In a short time period, leading medical staff was recruited, and three specialization tracks were opened (oral and maxillofacial, oral medicine and pediatric dentistry), in addition to advanced training tracks in various fields for general dentists.
These achievements have led to the establishment of the Galilee College of Dental Sciences with the aim of strengthening dentistry, both for dentists and for the community in the Galilee, so that residents in the periphery will have access to the highest standards of dental care, and the full range of complex and special dental treatments and procedures.
The establishment of the Galilee College of Dental Sciences will be an important step in strengthening Israel’s northern periphery and the Galilee region, both medically and academically, while providing quality service to area residents.
